The great thing about salmon is that it does not take a lot of complicated ingredients or cooking skill to prepare a tasty, healthy and elegant meal. Just a favorite herb or spice or two is about all you need.

When it comes time to look for a recipe for baked salmon, keep in mind the herbs and spices you prefer. If you love rosemary, for example, then look for a baked salmon recipe that incorporates that herb into the salmon.

When buying salmon, be sure that the fish is fresh and cook it within 1 to 2 days of purchase. Don’t over do it on the spices. Remember the natural flavor of salmon is very rich and flavorful all on its own.

Foil Baked Salmon

3 1/2 pounds of salon (serves 6)
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 Lemon
1 Tablespoon of Softened Butter or Oil

Lay down a piece of aluminum foil that is big enough to wrap the salmon into a loose packet on a baking tray. Grease the foil with oil if the salmon will be served cold or butter if it will be served hot. Add thin slices of lemon on the foil and place the salmon on top and then add the rest of the lemon slices on top of the salmon. Season with salt and pepper and wrap the fish loosely. Make sure that the edges of the foil are folded together and secure so that steam cannot escape.

Place salmon into an oven heat at 350F for 10 minutes per pound of fish. If you are serving the baked salmon hot, let it stand for 10 minutes before serving. If the salmon will be served cold, leave the fish inside the salmon for 2-3 hours.
